Grand Master Mantak Chia usually only teaches these very demanding subjects in the darkroom. In complete darkness without any distraction from visual stimuli, these 3 formulas of the highest inner alchemy are usually offered over 3 weeks.
Doctor Andrew Jan has been assisting Grandmaster Mantak Chia in the darkroom every year for about 20 years and has co-authored several books on this subject with Master Chia.
He is one of the most experienced practitioners of these high Inner Alchemy practices. This year's 5-day workshop in Berlin was created as an experiment and is aimed at very advanced participants who have already gained experience and can accept essence training as an enrichment. Most of the course participants are therefore already teachers trained by Mantak Chia.

It was a pleasure to teach in Berlin this year at a beautifully appointed venue, with a welcoming atmosphere and smooth organisation. The course offered a comprehensive progression through the inner alchemical practices of Kan and Li, with one day revisiting Lesser Kan and Li (Formula 4), followed by two days each on Greater Kan and Li (Formula 5) and Greatest Kan and Li (Formula 6). The teachings culminated in a lead-in to Ecstatic Flight (Formula 8) and a Tai Chi Master class. The group—primarily Instructors and Senior Instructors—engaged with enthusiasm, gaining not only deep insights but also powerful transformative experiences, many of which were described as life-changing.
A highlight was the Tai Chi masterclass, where participants embodied the energetic dynamics of Kan and Li within the form and Jin expressions, significantly enhancing their understanding and practice. The success of this year's program has inspired plans for a follow-up in 2026.
Next year’s workshop, running from 22 to 26/27 May (during the Pentecost festival), will include a refresher on Greatest Kan and Li (Formula 6), two days on Sealing the Five Senses (Formula 7), and two days dedicated to Spirit Flight – Formula 8. (On the 27th of May, we plan to offer another Tai Chi Masterclass.) This event will also coincide with the near-completion of the final two stages of the inner alchemy path—Ecstatic Flight (Formula 8 - Congress of Heaven and Earth) and Grand Completion (Formula 9 - Reunion of Human and Tao), which are being developed in collaboration with Grand Master Chia. All instructors, and especially Senior Instructors, are warmly encouraged to attend and continue this profound training.
