Mantak Chia has been extensively trained in Taoist health practices since childhood and has continuously developed his extensive knowledge with the help of traditional writings as well as other disciplines such as yoga, tai chi, kung fu, and Buddhist and Zen teachings.

A key focus for Mantak Chia has always been the coordination and interaction of mind and body, especially healing energy. To better understand these mechanisms, Master Chia has also studied Western anatomy and medicine intensively. Those who know Mantak Chia know how meticulously he follows new studies on mind-body connections.

Even in his early days as a teacher, Master Chia was firmly convinced that Western science would one day prove the traditional Taoist teachings using modern research methods.

Although humans have long been interested in the importance and study of the brain, it was only in the last century that the development of the electroencephalogram made it possible to measure brain activity in detail using electrical impulses.

These are broken down as follows:

Brain waves and states of consciousness

Frequency in Hertz

Status/Activity

Delta

0,2 – 4

deep sleep

Theta

4 - 8

deep relaxation

Alpha

8 - 12

relaxation, creativity, inner focus

Beta

12 - 38

awake, alert, focused

Gamma

>38

mental peak performance, transcendental consciousness

Findings from neuroscience are now being used to stimulate the desired effect through both devices and therapeutic methods. Their use ranges from promoting healthy sleep to supporting competitive sports.

Taoist exercises influence the brain. They induce relaxation and improve coordination between different areas of the brain. This relaxation activates the parasympathetic nervous system and the rapid coordination of different areas leads to greater creativity.

In 1996, extensive tests were carried out on Master Chia in cooperation with the Institute for Biocybernetics and Biofeedback Research while he was performing individual meditation practices. The Institute for Biocybernetics and Biofeedback Research in Vienna, under the direction of Gerhard Eggetsberger, had a recognized scientific status and was one of the pioneers in the fields of biofeedback, mental training, and hypnosis research.

Eggetsberger was also the discoverer of the psychogenic brain and body field and provided mental coaching to numerous top Austrian athletes, artists, managers, and students for many years. His research work is now being continued in the International PcE Network.

The experiment at that time measured how mental stimulation influences brain waves. Even with the relatively simple measuring instruments available at the time, it was possible to demonstrate a clear effect of Mantak Chia's concentrated mental activity on his brain waves. During meditation, the frequency of the brain waves quickly entered the alpha range, thus proving the effect of meditation. The experiment was recorded in a short video at the time:

Gerhard Eggetsberger, former head of the Institute for Biocybernetics and Biofeedback Research, on Mantak Chia's techniques: These exercises are the first system I have come across that I can recommend to absolutely everyone.

As Mantak Chia's own measurements have shown, thousands of students can now confirm how calming, stabilizing, and healing the exercises of the Universal Healing Tao® System are. In today's world, with its many uncertainties, they particularly appreciate how they can control stress and anxiety and remain centered. From the wide range of exercises, everyone can choose the ones that suit them best, e.g., Tai Chi, Chi Nei Tsang®, or meditation.

In 2014, Polish scientists conducted further measurements on Mantak Chia in Berlin.

The measuring instruments and the corresponding recordings were more advanced than those used in the first measurement experiments in 1996, and the recordings were correspondingly more differentiated.

The brain wave measurements taken of Grand Master Chia and three other Universal Healing Tao® Senior Instructors (two male, one female) present in Berlin in April 2014 yielded the following results:

  1. Very high coherence in the alpha range, especially from 10.5 to 11 Hz, very good symmetry (almost no asymmetry) and very good synchrony, i.e. above-average coordination between the left and right hemispheres of the brain and between the rear (subconscious) and center + front (consciousness).
  2. There were above-average areas of the brain that were active and connected during the meditative activity, which indicates high neuroplasticity.
  3. Switching between different activities could be accomplished comparably quickly, which is also a sign of increased neuroplasticity and phase shifting, i.e., rapid measurable changes in brain waves.

The application of the basic exercises already leads to greater neuroplasticity and enables the two hemispheres of the brain to work together in a more coordinated and balanced way.

The logical capacity of the left hemisphere reacts quickly in tandem with the right hemisphere, which functions holistically. This in turn increases creativity and the ability to quickly find solutions to problems that arise in everyday life, both privately and professionally. This provides a foundation and promotes greater self-confidence in stressful times.

The rapid change of individual brain frequencies is particularly important in Universal Healing Tao® at higher levels of meditation, as this speed is helpful in connecting to stellar elements and constellations in the universe.

You connect more quickly to universal energy and have more energy for a healthy, conscious life.
