Course Description
Chi Training
Chi Training in the Universal Healing Tao® System of Grandmaster Mantak Chia develops the ability to perceive, circulate, balance, and direct life-force energy within the body. Beginning with awareness, students use breathing, focused attention, gentle movement, and internal sensing to recognize Chi as warmth, tingling, pressure, or vibration. From there, students build the Lower Tan Tien as an energetic reservoir, circulate Chi through the Microcosmic Orbit, and activate the hands. Grounding and energetic stability remain essential throughout, and Cosmic Healing Qigong then opens connection with Heaven, Earth, and the surrounding universe. The aim is awareness, balance, and conscious energy management, not simply more energy.
Sensing Chi
Chi Training begins with awareness. Through breathing, focused attention, gentle movement, and internal sensing, practitioners gradually learn to recognize Chi as subtle sensations of warmth, tingling, pressure, vibration, expansion, or movement within the body. This ability to perceive Chi is the starting point for learning to cultivate, circulate, balance, and direct it.
Lower Tan Tien Storage
The Lower Tan Tien is an important foundation of the training and is cultivated as the body’s central energetic reservoir. Practitioners learn to gather and store Chi in this center. Working with this reservoir also helps establish grounding and a stable connection with the Earth.
Moving Chi in the Microcosmic Orbit
The Microcosmic Orbit trains the conscious circulation of Chi through the Governor and Conception Channels. This practice helps distribute energy throughout the body and harmonize the energetic system. Practitioners learn to move Chi within their own bodies with focused awareness.
Activating the Hands
The hands play a central role in Chi Training. Through specific exercises, the palms, fingers, and major acupuncture points of the hands are activated and sensitized. Practitioners learn to feel the energetic space between the hands and to use focused awareness to guide Chi through the arms, hands, and fingers. Activating these points and channels supports the circulation of Chi throughout the entire body and develops greater sensitivity to subtle energetic changes.
Grounding and Protective Energy Field
Grounding, centering, and energetic stability are essential throughout the training. Simple practices strengthen and balance the body’s energy field and help maintain clear energetic boundaries. The emphasis is first on developing a stable and balanced energy system within oneself before working energetically with another person.
Cosmic Healing Qigong and Buddha Palm
As sensitivity and stability increase, the practices of Cosmic Healing Qigong, also known as Buddha Palm, introduce methods for connecting with the energies of Heaven, Earth, and the surrounding universe. Practitioners learn to receive, circulate, and direct Chi without relying solely on personal energy. The major acupuncture points in the hands are used to activate and balance the meridians and energy channels. The palms and fingers become increasingly sensitive instruments for sensing and guiding Chi.
Supporting Others
The fundamental aim of Chi Training is not simply to generate more energy, but to develop awareness, balance, grounding, and conscious energy management. Through regular practice, students learn to perceive Chi, collect and store it, move it within their own bodies, balance their energetic system, and establish a stable energy field. Eventually, they use these skills to support energetic balance in others.
